BIG CONTEST!!!

THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO
MY CURRENT FOLLOWERS ONLY

DO NOT POST THIS CONTEST
OR MENTION IT ON YOUR BLOG

READ CAREFULLY

As most of you know, I am wanting to open an Etsy &/or a Bonanza shop & time is a-wastin'.  Initially I was trying to come up with a name for my shop that would encompass all the things I want to offer ... primitives, various handmades, & a plethora of crafting supplies.  However, I've decided that opening just one shop for all those things would be a bit confusing to potential customers.  I would therefore like to open two shops ... one for the prims & one for the craft supplies ... & maybe try Lemon Poppy Seeds or a similar venue for the handmades.  The problem is, I can't think of good names for my shops!

Here's where you, my current followers, come in   : )   I need your suggestions for good shop names!  If I pick your suggestion, you will win a BIG PRIZE!!!
There will actually be two winners ... one winner for the name of my prim shop & one winner for the name of my crafting supplies shop.  I won't be showing you what you can win because the winners will be receiving prizes tailored to their own interests, but trust me ... they will be worth trying for   : )

Perhaps a little "me" information will be of help to you.  I live on a small farm (see blog header photo).  There really isn't anything here that is "outstanding" such as a special old oak tree or something along those lines. I do have some bittersweet that I planted along the back fence, I love winter & snow (which we don't get much of here), I have a cat (Sophie).  If you can think of any other info that might be of help to you, feel free to ask   : )

Remember, this contest is only open to my current followers & you are not to post or mention this contest on your blog.  Also, you do not need to have a blog in order to enter.

You can submit more than one name suggestion for a shop & you can submit names for both shops.  Who knows ... you might walk away winning both prizes   : )

So ... put on your thinking cap & give me some great name suggestions!  This contest ends Friday, August 10, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.  Winners will be announced shortly thereafter   : )

Mmm I have really had to think about this - I did think of one for combining the 2 which was:

Shirlees Stitch Prim Craft Place (a little like the name of my blog - you could mix the words up if you wished) but if you wanted to split it the 2 names I suggest are:

For the Primtive Store - how about Shirlees Primitive Offerings

For the Craft Store - how about The Easily Influenced Crafter

something along those lines.

Good luck to you xx

Shirlee, I really have to think better about it, as the task is really interesting. So far I've come up with one name for the Crafting supplies shop - Shirlee's treasure box. I'll write more soon, I promise!

As I know you have loads of gorgeous flowers and the only one you mention is the bittersweet, I'm going use that in a name for the crafting supplies and go with

SHIRLEE'S BITTERSWEET ACCESSORIES

I was thinking that when you come to selling them you may have some bittersweet memories too!

For the primitives I am going to go with

SHIRLEE DELIGHTFUL PRIMITIVES

thinking that Shirlee sounds a bit like surely.

Good luck to everyone with their ideas.

How about "The Horny Toad" and "The Satisfied Frog"??? OK....JUST KIDDING! I'll be back after I ponder a bit. 2 Questions, though: (1) Do we need to make sure the name is available in Etsy (i.e., not already in use)? and (2) Should we assume you weren't overly impressed with our first go-round with names and not "re-submit" them if they might potentially work for one of the shops?? (You know my OCD brain works differently than most....) :o) Robin

TheCrankyCrow said...

Ok....I'm still pondering and will be back again I'm sure. (You know what these "name-it" things do to me....) But had to "purge" these from my wee brain for now:

In each case, the name of the "supplies" store is listed first; the name of the finished items/prims store is listed second:

Seasons of My Past
Seasons of My Heart

Calico Kisses
Homespun Hugs

By Thy Hand
By My Hand

My Mother's Daughter
My Father's Daughter

Twisted Knickers
Proper Stitches
(Actually, this I like together as one shop name: "Twisted Kickers and Proper Stitches..." Just has a ring to it.)

(If you can't tell, I like the idea of the names being somehow connected, even if they're two separate shops....)

You better hope I get some sleep tonight. ;o)

Hi..you certainly are making us work for a win! LOL...this is fun. My suggestions for your shop names are:

For your prim shop: Farmyard Stitchins

For your supplies shop:
Shirlee's Stitchin Surplus

Thanks for the fun. Hope you like some of the names your followers are suggesting. I am a faithful follower.

Hi Shirlee,

I guess I will try my hand at this one. For the primitive shop, I was thinking....Shirlee's Primitive Prizes. You could even just go with Primitive Prizes if you wanted to.

And for the Craft Supplies...how about Shirlee Says...Crafting Surely!! or Surely You Can Do It Craft Supplies.

If I think of any others, I will let you know.

I am a follower, but Google keeps knocking me out!!!

Shirlee, hello, it’s me again with a brand new idea. I’ve just though this little pun up, it refers to flowers and primitive pictures at the same time. “Shirlee's PRIMrose Pictures”. Hope it’ll be of use for you. Tatyana

cucki said...

1)the craft room
2)prim friends
3)my prim cornor

Oh Shirlee, my thinking cap is not working that well...maybe I need some mor Diet coke.

Prim Trim's for the craft supplies
Hilltop Farm Samplings for the crafts

That's about it from here. Maybe I will have a revelation during work today.

Hi Shirlee,
I am one of your followers and have come up with a few ideas for a new shop name for ya:
For the primitive shop:
Stony Lane Primitives~ based on your header picture.
For the supply shop:
Stony Lane Mercantile~ that way you could sell anything you'd like.
Or maybe,
Olde Thread Primitives and Olde Threads Mercantile.

If I think of any other names I'll come back. You have quite a few to choose from.
Blessings,
Jean

Almost forgot....These are the ideas that flitted through my head before I drifted off last night.....

They are more along the lines of "general" ideas - and you can easily substitute the "noun" for the supplies shop or finished goodes with a different noun of your liking...I'll explain the first in the first one....but trust you get the idea for the rest:

Hollering Hill Needfuls (or Hollering Hill "Mercantile," etc.) - for the craft supplies shop

Hollering Hill Prims (or Hollering Hill "Primitives".... or "Stitchies"....or "Stitchies and Such"...or "Stitcheries"....or
"Stitcheries and Such," etc.) - for the finished goods shop

Other thoughts to go with the above "nouns":

Winter Hill Needfuls/Mercantile, etc.
Winter Hill Prims/Primitives, etc.

Winterberry Hill Needfuls/Mercantile, etc.
Winterberry Hill Prims/Primitives, etc.

Stone Hill Needfuls/Mercantile, etc.
Stone Hill Prims/Primitives, etc.

Bittersweet Hill Needfuls/Mercantile, etc.
Bittersweet Hill Prims/Primitives, etc.

(Can you tell I was on a "Hill" theme....??? Gee, I wonder why....) ;o)

I hope I get more sleep tonight....I have to get up really early tomorrow.....

:o) Robin

I'm not very creative or good at coming up with names, so I just thought of one that would suit both - Bittersweet Market and Make-do's.

I've often seen prim items referred to as a make-do, since you "make-do" with what you have on hand to craft them. The name gives you some flexibility with your commercial endeavors in the future to combine to one main website selling everything, finished projects, kits, or just supplies. If you're going to use social media for marketing, it may not be a great idea to have multiple names and split the focus of followers, or it will just take double the effort on your part to promote both names. Uh oh, I sort of rambled and started sounding like the project I'm working on for my MBA right now.

What a fun contest. I'll throw in these names for you:

Olde Thyme Primitives

Thanks for the opportunity. Have fun choosing the names.

Ok....you made me do this:

Bilberry Bluff (Lane?) Gatherings (Mercantile?) (Goodes?)

Bilberry Bluff (Lane?) Goodes (Prims?) (Primitives?)

Ok...I'm done...really...I mean it. r

Ok....I lied...

Um DUH!

BILBERRY HILL MERCANTILE/GATHERINGS/GOODS (etc.)
BILBERRY HILL GOODES/PRIMS/PRIMITIVES (etc.)

(Get it??? Combines your Polish ancestry, your name, and a wonderful old timey song..... You could even go a little racier and use "Bilberry Hill Thrills" for your finished goods shop if you wanna live on the wild side....) ;o)

What can I say...I'm sleep deprived.

Now I promise I'm done.....

I don't know why, but when I look at the photo of your house, the name "Winding Hill" keeps coming into mind, so how about:

Winding Hill Handmades
Winding Hill Prims
Prim and Proper
Perfectly Prim and Proper
Perfectly Prim
Sophie's Stitching Supplies (in honor of your kitty!!)
Bittersweet Handmades

Have fun picking--you've received some great suggestions :)
