Easily Influenced?

My blog is primarily a stitching blog even though quite often I talk about other crafts & ramble on about other things.  It did not start out as a stitching blog though.  When I realized that is what it had become, I changed the name & became The Easily Influenced Stitcher ... but why that name?

Well, looking back I think I can pretty much pinpoint the day I realized I have this character trait.  Marly of Samplers & Santas fame had been posting her Prairie Schooler Santa projects over the course of a few weeks.  They called to me, but I turned a deaf ear to their cry.  After all, I had never considered myself to be a "Santa person." However, Marly kept posting & those jolly old elves kept calling.  Then it happened ... her post of December 7, 2011.  A crack appeared in my armor.  Then another post appeared on December 9, 2011.  The crack in my armor became a bit wider.  I sent her an email on December 10th in which I described my visit to the 123 Stitch website where I found PS Santa charts & leaflets & couldn't click "Add to my Cart" fast enough!  I told her that my work was cut out for me ... stitching all those dang Santas before the next Christmas was upon us.  That would've been Christmas 2012.  As of this date, my nimble fingers have not stitched one Santa, but they are in my stash & I will stitch them one of these days   : )

The Results of Her Influence
(You can read about it here.)

The influencing has continued ... most recently in a post by Vickie at A Stitcher's Story.  On April 19th, Vickie wrote a post titled Rabbit Stitcher where she shared a photo of her newest finish ... Rabbit Stitcher by Little Treasures Designs.  As what usually happens when I see something I like in a blog post, I immediately stopped reading & rushed off to the 123 Stitch website to find that chart, but they didn't have it!  I Googled it. No luck.  I finally sent an email to Vickie begging her to loan me the chart.  She very kindly did just that   : )

Is my easily influenced nature limited to stitching?  Heavens to Betsy no!  On March 19th of this year, Trace from Granny Trace Scraps & Squares posted a photo of a little book she had won ... The New England Butt'ry Shelf Almanac.  "A very sweet read," she said.

Trace also posted some really neat blue reproduction Ball canning jars on March 28th.

On April 30th, Chris from Tot Hill Farm Stitches did a post asking Have You Seen This Fabric?  Well no, I hadn't seen it before that day, but now I can see it whenever I want!

What can I tell you?  As Popeye always said, "I am what I am."  In my case, that's easily influenced ... not always a bad thing   : )

I like the color of your bunny! Mine looks so dark now. Well, it was hard to find an exact match to a rabbit. Still love mine lots and lots.

I think I need to change the name of my blog to "The Easily Influenced STitcher TOO".

I do the same thing. My kids keep asking when I will have enough patterns. I think I have almost all of those PS patterns lol.

At least DH doesn't say a word!

Hugs,
Rose

What a super post - it's one of the great reasons to read Blogs and get those great ideas and then rush out to have that great "something new!!" I can totally identify!

Oh my gosh Shirlee ~ you make me laugh. So many of us are like that. We just don't realize it until someone writes a post ~ like you and we say I'm just like that. LOL
When ever I see a cross stitch pattern someone posts ~ I to go to 123 stitch to see if they have it.

Now I want to know where to get the Tasha Tudor book???
Thanks for sharing!

It's a good thing that we have internet shopping to go along with our internet browsing. All the supplies needed for the great ideas from fellow bloggers (including you) are right at our keyboards!

What a wonderful post! You may have been influenced but you are doing plenty of influencing on your own, Miss Lisa!

Such a great post! You're the third blogger I've seen today that has the blue Ball jars. I think I'm going to have to find me some of those jars too.

What a fun post---ofcourse, we all fall into the catagory of "influenced"! How can we resitst all off these great things we see on blogs? And the hunt is equally as fun! Althought sometimes, things just cannot be found! Thanks for more ideas!!

I've enjoyed your blog for a while now, and it's been fun reading this post about your name! An old saying is "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"! That is you and they are probably all flattered that you liked their things so much you "copied"!?!?! I think it's great. And, yes, I have all the PS Santas, too and ONE DAY they'll get stitched! HA! But I just love looking over the charts!
Good luck in your stitching, moving, and everything else!

I looked for those Blue jars when I saw a post a while ago, too! But I resisted... too practical for my own good sometimes! You are not alone, tho... I stop reading if I find something I like, and either write it on my never ending Must Have List or search for it online and either bookmark it or just outright buy it! I am trying to get through 88 blog posts, and this seriously delays me! But it is my passion, and yours too, so we enjoy it. Hubby is watching his baseball... same same...

We are all enablers of one another on this blog community. More than once I have looked at something on a blog and said...ooooh I HAVE to stitch that, or find that!

Take comfort in the fact that many of us out here are easily influenced. :)

Oh how I've been influenced too Shirlee! I loooove that fabric that you and Chris bought...where did you get it?! I often see something on another person's blog and think, I need it! So off I go and buy it too!!
