Seeking Suggestions

I have been happily stitching away on my Joy to the World design by Lizzie Kate but alas, I have encountered a problem with my linen.  There was a large slub which I knew from the start would be in the stitching area.  I did my best to pick it out.  I'm usually successful when I do this, but this time not so much.  The slub did get smaller, but the fabric dye did not soak through all the fibers and therefore the remainder of what's left is lighter, even white, compared to the surrounding fabric.  Your eye is immediately drawn to it.

I tried to plan for part of the stitching to cover the slub.  Obviously I failed.  Can anyone suggest a way I can somehow darken this area a bit without ruining the surrounding linen and the cross stitches?

Do you have any art/colored pencils? Maybe a brown will help.

Hi Shirlee. I've done the same more than a few times. If it was a short piece I removed an end thread and wove it in. But usually I used a pencil to color it. On unbleached linen the pencil matched pretty good.

To me, slubs are a characteristic of linen and I leave them. Yes, you can see the one in your fabric. It wouldn't bother me. YMMV. Glad you're back posting.

Honestly I would leave it. To me it shows off the rustic beauty of your fabric and my eye is drawn to the stitching not the slub.

I would leave it, but you might try a colored pencil to hide it a little.

I would leave it or like Marly suggested try to weave in a thread from the edge if you really cant live with it like it is.
