Blog Reading Services

Blogger is aggravating me again   : (

All of a sudden, all the blogs I follow do not show up on my dashboard when a new post has been written.  They are showing up one at a time with the most recent blog post being visible.  For example, if Susie publishes a post at 10 o'clock, & Mary publishes one at 10:03, I can only see Mary's post.  I never see Susie's.  Not only is this happening, but when I click on the name of a blog from the list of blogs that I follow, I can't access it.

I haven't been able to comment on blogs since before I went to the hospital with the exception of one blog, one time.

I am going to bite the bullet & try signing up with a blog reading service, but which one?

While I'm on the subject ... is there any way to move my blog from Blogger to some other blog providing service without losing all my photos, every post I've ever written, etc?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hope you are feeling well.... the same thing is happening to me with blogger, and it is VERY frustrating!! I hope it corrects itself soon, as I have no clue what to do about it!

The same is happening to me Shirley. Very annoying. I look forward to reading suggestions on your blog, assuming blogger will let me!

I'm having the same problems as well. From the other comments, we're not the only ones having this problem.

I have bloglovin, feedly and feedspot readers that I'm still "evaluating". They each offer something different, but mostly, I'm looking for a reader that lets me read posts easily, comment on posts and shows the newest updates for all the blogs I follow. Bloglovin and feedspot each send emails of new blog posts. You can change the email setting in bloglovin to get one daily email of all the new blog posts or get individual emails of new blog posts. I haven't used feedspot much, but it also provides a daily email of blog posts.

I'm not sure of how you would go about changing to a new blog host. I do back up my blog regularly and maybe there are some blog hosts that will let you transfer your blog posts via the back up option.

For reading blog posts I've been very happy with bloglovin.com.
I don't keep a blog myself any more so hopefully another reader of yours can help you with your blog transferring quetion

Well I use bloglovin' to read my blogs through and have had no issues. I can group blogs so for example I have cross stitch, designers, gardening etc. I opted for a daily email so that one the rare occasions I am caught up with blogs I can read through that.

I use Feedly which migrated all my blogs across from the old Google Reader.
Lots of people use Bloglovin' and like it.
I prefer Feedly for two reasons:
1. That apostrophe irriates me and I read the word as Blo-Glovin and can't work out what gloves have to do with anything.
2. You can use categories with Feedly, so I put all the professional blogs in one place, my favourites in another, foreign language in another and so on.
This appeals to my tidy mind :-)

Hi Shirlee. Same problem from early this morning for me too. I googled it. It is happening with many people. Blogger is trying to fix it. It is a "Bug" they say. Whatever?!I am waiting it out. I signed up for Feedly many months ago when they got rid of Reader. It works well. I have relied on it today.

As far as the commenting, I am in the same boat as you also with that. I have been resending the comments that bounce back into my spam, as an email. PAIN IN THE RUMPUS!!!!

Hi Shirlee, hope you are feeling better. I am so frustrated also, the same thing is happening to me, blogger is only showing one blog at a time. I thought it was something I was doing, but it must be blogger. I hope it resolves soon. Lecia

Glad you are starting to feel better and posting..and getting a bit of stitching done. Why do these computers have to cause us so much grief..just work correctly and we will be happy. Good luck with finding a fix.

Hello Shirlee. Praying that you are feeling better. Yes, Blogger still has some issues. I have tried ardently in the past to try the forums but got very little official responses or help. I finally decided that while blogging is fun, it cannot rule my life. If it works, it works; if it doesn't then it doesn't. You can transfer to the free Wordpress.com. There is a button in their dashboard to transfer a blog and its contents from Blogger to Wordpress. They do not allow any selling, though. To have a "selling blog", you would have to go to their paid-for service at Wordpress.org. I moved one of my blogs to their free Wordpress.com a couple of years ago. No troubles. Wordpress.com (free) nor their .org (paid-for) allows any java script, either. Blogger templates cannot be used there. They do have many free templates with options though. They do not provide one-on-one help on making changes on blogs. You will need some html experience or hire someone to make the changes for you. Some changes require a fee for the template. Some templates are more minimal than others. Some templates are free, some are not.

As far as readers, I like Bloglovin'. We have to remember that even though platforms incl. Blogger have many issues, they are free. This is why it will only make you a nervous wreck to take it all too seriously. You could go ahead and start a free Wordpress.com blog just to see how you like it, and then transfer this blog later if you want to. Since the Google Friends Connect is java script code, though, it is not allowed on Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org. They have their own gadgets that they call widgets. Some free, some paid-for. 'Hope this info helps you friend.

'Forgot to add that Wordpress does not allow us to access our blog's template html, like Blogger does. Where you will need some html knowledge is to write posts and add gadgets (widgets). You can check out my Wordpress.com blog at: daniceseclecticblog.wordpress.com I didn't make that a link in this post b/c some people incl. myself don't allow comments that contain links. I am not trying to spam you, just wanted you to know that :)

Hi Shirlee, I am just as frustrated. Mine has been doing this for a couple days now. I also use bloglovin' but prefer blogger. One suggestion I have is if you keep a list on your sidebar of blogs you visit/like they will show up there... that is how I found your post here!

I changed to Bloglovin when google ceased for my reader, it seems to suit me ok and I haven't had any real issues with it.... you watch now I typed that I will have!!!

I'm not so good at the techno stuff, so my blog page stays the same.

{get well hugs} x
