Never-Ending Frustration With Blogger

I have posted before about my frustration with Blogger regarding the issue that for at least a year I have not been able to delete blogs I no longer want to follow.  I don't use a reader source but instead follow blogs the old-fashioned way ... from my dashboard.  I know all the suggested ways to delete blogs from my reading list.  I used to delete them all the time before whatever occurred to stop me from doing so.  I have been so desperate to rid my reading list of no-longer-want-to-follow blogs that I have even offered a $50 reward to anyone who could help me do so, but that effort proved fruitless as well   : (

This morning I discovered that responses I've made to comments are bouncing back to me & showing up in my spam folder as "not deliverable" or some such thing.  I know that in the past I've seen a couple bloggers post about this happening to them, but I never realized it was happening to me as well.  I just figured that these messages I was receiving my my spam folder were, well, spam!  For whatever reason, this morning I decided to click on one & there it was ... my response to a person who left a comment.  I am deeply saddened by this.  I make sure that I respond to each & every comment I receive.  I believe that if someone takes the time to leave a comment, a response is the well-mannered thing to do.  I know that some bloggers do not feel this way & will not respond to a comment even if a question is asked.  I am not one of them.

Please know that unless you are a no-reply blogger, if you leave a comment on one of my blog posts, I will always respond to it.

I will now be on the lookout for these "not deliverable" messages in my spam folder & will be sure to send a "new response" to your comment via a newly created email if my original response was not delivered to you.  In the meantime, if there is any way to stop my responses to your comments from bouncing back to me, please let me know.

You got me thinking, so I tried to delete a blog. It worked. I also use the dashboard reader. I clicked the gear icon (reading list far right NOT the one at the top of the page) signed in as a Google account, scrolled down to the blog, clicked settings, and then stop following this blog. Bingo. Your computer must have gremlins!!!

Been there... fixed it... see my blog for OH NO #2 fix. If you are referring to ANYthing you are doing through google or yahoo, it is because they changed their settings to REJECT lots and lots of emails because of spammers! They just did not tell the general public! Hugs!

I don't have any solutions for your blogger issues, Shirlee. Hopefully someone will be able to help you out!

I considered sending this privately, but then thought maybe it might help others too.

I use firefox browser and had to set "mail to" to Yahoo. Go to Tools/Options/Applications. Find "Mail To" and set it to Yahoo Mail. Once I reset this to Yahoo Mail, it took care of most of the "mail delivery failure" notices I was getting. I still get a few "delivery failure" notices from posts I leave on someone's blog, but I'm getting all of the emails for posts left on my blog in my inbox again.

Also, check your blogger settings and make sure your email address is correct.

Hope this helps you like it did me!

Hi Miss Shirlee,

It's me - Prudence, I am back home and catching up on all my favorite people. (o: Don't you dare smash your puter, how would I "talk" with you without it.

I think you should go hug a teddy bear, that should make you feel better. If you need help Mom says to just e-mail us and maybe we can walk you through cleaning up your follow list.

Heaps of Hugs
Prudence ♥

I don't use any of the Google products knowingly. It they make a change I'm forced to use, I'm not aware of it. I'm sure you've tried this, but the way I delete blogs is to click "design", then "layout", then edit the gadget that holds my blog list. I actually have a shortcut that I use also, but I don't know if you're set up like I am so I won't go into that. I have not experienced the spam problem that you mentioned, although I know others have. Hope someone is able to help you with it.

It's very frustrating isn't it Shirlee. I too try to respond to all my commenters...although I'm often behind a week! Maggee posted something about this that explains the mess that has been made by the three major email accounts. Read up on it here:

I am having a hard time I click on a blog and it says not available.
What's going on. Besides that 2 TV channels have no sound. NUTS!

URGH, Blogger drives me crazy. I've stopped getting emails from you whenever you comment on my blog, Shirlee, and that's why I haven't been replying. I really want to reply, but I don't even see your comments unless I go to my blog and check. Sorry about that! :(
