10. In suffering be patient, & silence your heart under the mighty hand of God with these meditations: first, that it is God's hand that chastens you; second, that it is for your benefit; third, that He will ease the burden; fourth, He will give you strength to endure; & fifth, He will deliver you from affliction in due time.

I have been asked where the book of these Rules of a Godly Life can be purchased. I am copying them from a book called The Amish Way, written by Donald B. Kraybill, Steven M. Nolt, & David L. Weaver-Zercher. They mention the Rules in this book & obtained permission to print them in their entirety in the back of the book. I have read several books about the Amish over the past year or two & I would say that this particular book is the best I have read thus far. It gives such a very detailed account of their life & beliefs. I highly recommend it if you are interested in Amish life.
Rules of a Godly Life is actually part of a book which is titled In Meiner Jugend: A Devotional Reader in German & English. It is an Amish text available only from Pathway Publishers, an Old Order Amish publishing house located in Canada with a branch in Indiana. They of course do not have a telephone number or internet site. Their address is Pathway Publishers, 2580N - 250W, LaGrange, IN 46761.
