Selling Suggestions Sought

I have stuff to sell.  Craft stuff, crafted stuff, prim stuff, painted stuff, wax stuff, other types of decor, etc.  I had some marvelous results on eBay many years ago but whenever I've tried to list similar things over the past couple years I don't even get one bid so eBay is something I'm not going to consider.  I'm thinking Etsy might be a good outlet.  Does anyone truly have any luck selling on Etsy?  I'm thinking of starting a selling blog with a link from this one but that's not going to reach a whole lot of people.  Local sales are out of the question.

Am I missing anything?    Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi, I use ETSY, I have had good luck with it, I hated EBAY. We don't have any local outlets here either. I do a couple of shows each year. Good luck!

People want everything for pennies at garage sales, and postage is so high, I don't even bother. SO much work pricing and packing - I just take to nursing homes (they give items as gifts at Bingo), Animal Welfare sales, and others. Let them deal with it all!! You have so much on your plate right now I think you should rent a storage locker and take care of it later.

If you decide to sell on Etsy it seems a key to success there is to promote your shop like crazy. You might want to consider joining up with one of the more active selling teams. Old Farmhouse Gathering comes to mind. http://www.etsy.com/teams/6455/old-farmhouse-gathering

I used to sell handmades on eBay but too many policy changes there make it challenging to make any money. Just tossing this out there...Craig's List?

A selling blog could be good. We could all help spread the word for you with our blogs.

I too think that a selling blog is a good idea. I think that by doing that you would certainly have more control over the situation. Don't get me wrong, Etsy is great. Whichever you choose, I know that that you will do very well! Good Luck!

I've seen many have excellent luck with a selling blog, Shirlee--you could try it out with just a few items first and see how it goes... No investment other than a bit of your time!

I think, with the type of items you are saying you have, a selling blog might not be such a bad idea. I used to sell things on Ebay - but, lately, it really stinks - they have lost a LOT of the market - and even when there are watchers/bidders, the fees suck up any profit. If you find an answer, let me know! Robin
